Queens Cross Pub

The Queens Cross Pub

The Queens Cross Pub has been open since 1979 and is one of the most authentic pubs on the North Shore. Now, although I am yet to find a pub on the North Shore, or in Greater Vancouver for that matter, that has captured the true essence of a British Pub, the Queens Cross is a great alternative.

There are 24 different types of beer and cider on tap, served in real pint glasses and not those pathetically small sleeves. The beers are a great selection of craft, import and local beers from the North Shore.

The ambiance is great and there’s a good number of bar stools for those that are keen to chat to other patrons and there’s a good amount of floor space for people to mingle. There are a few too many TV’s for my liking, whichever way you’re looking you can see one, which is great if you’re there to watch a sporting event, but a little distracting if you’re just there to chat.

The food here is delicious, I can honestly say that I’ve never been disappointed with a meal, in fact, more often than not I’ve been very impressed. Although I haven’t (yet) taken on their famous roast dinner in a huge Yorkshire pudding, I have sampled their Fish & Chips on several occasions and it’s never disappointed.

There are daily specials and game day promotions on offer. There are also half priced wings on Monday-Friday from 3-5pm and unlike 3 restaurant chains on the North Shore, these wings are a proper size and value for money at the regular price.

The readers of the North Shore News voted the Queens Cross their “favourite pub for 2012.
