Northlands Golf Course – The Perfect Way to Spend a Saturday Afternoon

northlands_course_8Northlands Golf Course

Northlands was opened in 1997 and named by Golf Digest as Runner-Up Best New Course in Canada for 1998. Cut-out of a 100 year old mountainside forest, the golf course was designed by Les Furber, Canadian golf architect renowned for his work on mountainside courses.

Northlands Golf Course is one of the most popular public courses on the North Shore and can be found just off Mount Seymour Parkway. Northlands offers a full 18 hole course, putting green and driving range nearby. The course has some strategically placed natural hazards, stunning scenic downhill vistas and a good mix of challenging holes.

First Hole Nerves

The first hole lends itself to being even more intimidating than normal, with the tee being elevated a good 15/20ft above the section of the fairway you’re aiming for, with a dogleg right-to-left fairway wrapping around an enticing lake. If you walk away from the first hole without venturing into the water, you can hold your head high.

Eagle Chance

The seventeenth is an easy Par 5, it plays more like a Par 4 and is the only hole I can say I’ve ever Eagled. If you’re walking the course save some energy for the final section of the 18th hole, it certainly gets the heart rate going.

19th Hole

The 19th hole has a large balcony with beautiful views looking out over the course and beyond. There’s a good selection of beers and the food is pretty decent too.
